Michael Powers toured with James Cotton as a teenager one Summer. His first recording was with The AdLibs on THE BOY FROM NEW YORK CITY and for the legendary Spivey Records "I'm Gonna Send You Back To Your Mother". He led his own local cult band MOONBEAM out of his hometown of New Jersey. In 2004 Baryon Records released his CD ONYX ROOT which garners 2 W.C. Handy Award 2005 nominations. In 2006 PRODIGAL SON CD is released, garnering 3 Memphis Blues Music Award 2007 nominations, including Song of the Year; as well as a pre-Grammy nomination, both for the title track. In 2010 ZoHo Records released his CD REVOLUTIONARY BOOGIE. The first track "I MISS YOUR KISSIN" was a semi-fiinalist in the 2012 INTERNATIONAL Songwriting Competition. Also on CDBaby.com are his indie releases of "BLUESIANA BREEZE" and a solo performance DVD "4 GUITARS". 2014-2016 we will see a release of a series of live audio recordings, with ROOTED IN USA BLUES and CALIENTE LATINO (Latin Blues) being the first two. He has since recorded, performed with, or opened for Johnny Winter, Pinetop Perkins, Buddy Miles, Expensive Winos, Stanley Jordan, Tom Jones, Bruce Springsteen, Chambers Brothers, Canned Heat, Gunhild Carling, Jackie Flavelle, Hubert Sumlin, HoneyBoy Edwards, John Lee Hooker, Cherelles, The Holmes Brothers, Buckwheat Zydeco and even James Brown.
